 Spanish holidays are the number one choice for families who are travelling abroad this year, according to new research.
The study by insurance.co.uk revealed that family holidays in Spain also proved to be popular with older Britons, as it is listed as the second most popular travel spot in 2008 for those aged over 60.

 Holidays in Spain have retained their popularity among travellers, it has been reported.
According to a study by Co-op, Spain is one of the top ten foreign holiday destinations for summer 2008.
The Spanish holiday islands of Majorca and Tenerife also featured on the list.
"Bookings from people looking for cheap summer sun have traditionally ensured that Spain was the leading holiday destination," Trevor Davis, head of retail distribution at Co-op Travel, said.

 Big Brother evictee Stephanie McMichael has wasted no time feeling sorry for herself after being voted out of the infamous house.
The 19-year old student from Liverpool was the first to be voted off this year's Channel 4 show and jumped directly on a flight to Spain for a Spanish holiday with some friends, the Daily Mail reports.
"I would love to be in there. You don't expect to be first out.

 Spain's La Manga Club has been named in a list of top last minute holidays for summer 2008.
According to the Telegraph, La Manga Club is in the top ten out of 50 great last minute holiday destinations for this summer.
Recommending flights to Alicante, which is located near to La Manga, the publication reports that The Spa La Manga Club has launched an anti-ageing diamond-dust facial which could appeal to those planning on a girls' holiday in Spain.
Spa La Manga Club is located at the heart of the resort and offers full spa breaks in addition to spa treatments for those taking holidays in La Manga.

 In spite of the looming UK credit crisis, UK consumers are unwilling to spend their summers in gloomy Great Britain, instead preferring to take sunny Spanish holidays and trips to other balmy Mediterranean destinations, it has been suggested.
According to Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) spokesperson Sean Tipton, people in blustery Blighty are unprepared to give up their holidays abroad as they now see their annual holiday as a necessity and not a luxury.
He added that they would sooner make restraints in other areas of their lives than in their trips abroad.
"People are much more likely to cut back on other aspects of their life rather than forego a summer holiday -especially when we are in a situation which is potentially quite depressing.

Spanish holiday islands prepare for peak holiday weekend |

 The main airports on the Spain's Balearic Islands are gearing up for a busy weekend as the start of the peak summer holiday season approaches, it has been reported.
The Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that a total of 4,600 flights are scheduled to arrive in the Balearic Islands this summer as Brits set out for Spanish holidays, many of which will land during what is anticipated to be the "busiest" weekend of the summer so far, according to sources for the Spanish Airport Authority AENA.
At Palma Airport alone, more than 3,000 flights carrying around 500,000 passengers are expected this summer.
Airports and ports in and about Majorca are preparing for peak season by deploying additional personnel to entry and exit points.

 Bookings for summer holidays in Spain and other popular destinations are looking "healthy" it has been claimed.
According to Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) while 30 years ago, foreign holidays may have been considered a luxury they are now viewed by the majority of Brits as a necessity.

 Supermodel Kate Moss clearly enjoys her Spanish holidays, after she was pictured enjoying a break in Marbella a month after it was reported that her Top Shop boss had paid for her to fly to the Spanish Balearic Island of Majorca on holiday last month.
The Rimmel model was spotted wearing sun glasses and holding a wine glass while on holiday in Spain by the Daily Mail.
Moss was seen relaxing on a luxury boat in Marbella with friends over the weekend.
Sporting a stripy bikini, Kate Moss looked to be enjoying the stereotypical Spanish sunshine as she laid back and applied tanning oil to her famous limbs on the deck of the boat.
