Guide to La Manga Club29th May 2008

La Manga Club Spain is one of Europe's top holiday destinations and the resort itself has a wide range of things to see and do.

Sport is one of the key features of the resort and the tennis academy is something not to be missed for any budding Tim Henmans. The academy is situated right in the centre of the club and includes 28 courts in a choice of clay, Astroturf or hard surfaces. The Academy runs courses throughout the week and there is the option of private tuition and video analysis. The courts have quite a reputation and host both the Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. The Lawn Tennis Association has its winter training base in La Manga and describes it as: "the premier sports and leisure resort in Europe."

La Manga club also has a top-quality football centre but it is the golf academy that matches the reputation of the tennis facilities. The academy has recently been refurbished and fitted with the very latest digital coaching technology. Golfers have 1,400 acres on which to play and with three championship courses it is no surprise that the resort has been voted Europe's finest in two of the last five years. The academy accommodates golfers of all abilities and friendly competitions occur throughout the week.

If sport doesn't take your fancy La Manga Club has plenty more to offer. The spa is a great place to relax and unwind, complete with 13 treatment rooms, including two couple's rooms and three deluxe spa suites, a spacious gymnasium and fitness studio, jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, and a six-lap 25-metre indoor swimming pool. While parents are at the spa the kids can enjoy themselves at the mini club which caters for children up to 12 years of age. There is plenty to do ranging from crazy golf to volleyball and the club is open from 9am to 6pm, giving you plenty of time to see the rest of the club.

Perhaps the biggest decision to make is where to stay in La Manga Club. The resort has a wide range of accommodation to choose from depending upon personal preference. The El Pinar apartments overlook the west golf course and are fully air-conditioned with a communal swimming pool and are close to the tennis centre, children's club and within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Moving further east the Monte Verde apartments offer panoramic views and private swimming pools along with one indoor communal pool. For true luxury the Monte Mares private villas are the way to go. Private pools, air conditioning and a tranquil location near the beach keep them in high demand.

With summer just around the corner La Manga Club is one of the top resorts in Europe today.
